So my lovely husband took me to Cambridge for the weekend as a birthday treat. Cue lots of pictures of beautiful old buildings, bridges and the River Cam. Enjoy!
Wow. Just logged on to this site for the first time in what seems like ages to see that it has actually been over two years since I last posted anything. I am shocked time has flown that quick but also disappointed with myself for not trying harder to keep this hobby going. I have had a little distraction over the last 19 months in the form of my beautiful and crazy daughter Aoife but I am definitely ready to get back in touch with my camera and getting very snap-happy again. I have just arrived back from 13 wonderful days in Spain with over 1000 photos to sort through and edit. Don't worry though, I have narrowed it down to share with you! I tried to capture 'typically Spanish' views so I hope you enjoy. Waves, mountains, herons, lakes and good friends...Enjoy the gorgeous delights of County Kerry! For Christmas I bought my husband a Super Car driving experience so we cashed the present in this weekend while in Oxford at the Vision Motorsport track in Chipping Norton. The cars were fantastic and he had a brilliant time. On the way home, caught up with the fast car experience and missing the Bahrain grand prix, we took a detour to Silverstone. A quick google trip on my phone told us that the British touring car championships were taking place so £10 later we were in. We pretty much had the freedom to stroll around wherever we liked and even managed to drive around most of it (not on the actual track I hasten to add.) I had always thought tickets to a grand prix would be a big waste of money but I totally got caught up in the smell of petrol and the noise as the cars zoomed past and am now considering getting tickets to the British grand prix qualifying session in July... watch this space!! Over the weekend, I went to Oxford with my husband to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Armed with my Quick Guide to Oxford, we quickly found many of the landmarks in the small city for me to snap away at. What struck me in the city was the size of the buildings. The universities are massive and also too close together so it was a challenge to get them all in. Instead I had to settle for parts of the buildings. I think I will have to visit again and be a bit more creative next time. These are a few pictures that were taken in Waterlow Park in Highgate on a lovely clear and sunny day. I was surprised to see this London cityscape peaking through the trees.
I have decided to start categorising my pictures by theme and this will be my first as I am building up quite a collection of pictures showing reflections. I love the challenge of capturing them in different buildings. The weather and the amount of glass aong the Southbank provided an excellent starting point.. On Sunday, I took a late afternoon trip in to London, getting off the train at Tower Hill and wandering along the Southbank to Westminster and up through Trafalgar Square. The afternoon was bright but windy and the sun was setting as we neared the end of our stroll. Some of my pictures did not come out as well as I had hoped due to the changing light so I was a little disappointed so any tips would be greatly welcome. I have just got back from spending a lovely afternoon killing time with a good friend. He spotted this rather fat thing hiding among the trees at Rickmansworth Aquadrome while we were taking a wander around the lake.
Earlier this week I noticed I had had over 1000 visitors to this site. That is incredible and thank you to those people who keep coming back to visit. It is very much appreciated. The weather is slowly changing and signs of spring are all around so there should be lots of nice places to visit. I am particularly looking forward to taking my camera away to Oxford in a couple of weeks as I hear there are some amazing buildings to capture as well as trying my hand at action shots as my husband test drives 3 super cars. Watch this space to see how these turn out! While mooching online I found this book which I am hoping will be good for getting some different perspectives in our wonderful capital city. Fingers crossed the rain holds off so I can venture out tomorrow to bring you all some new pictures. |
